Egyptian fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) from Sohag is supplied as whole seeds and crushed. Fennel is bought for its sweet, anise-like aroma, which comes from an anethole-dominant volatile oil, and freshness matters more here than in many spices — the aroma is at its strongest in the months following harvest.
Whole seed is specified for visible applications, for teas and for buyers who grind or crush close to use. Crushed material is supplied where the process requires faster extraction or a specific particle size.
Applications include herbal and digestive teas, spice blends and seasoning manufacture, bakery and confectionery, meat and sausage production, and botanical extraction for flavour and pharmaceutical use. Fennel is also a staple of traditional preparations across the Middle East, where consistency between deliveries is the buying criterion.
Sohag's irrigated growing season and dry harvest window allow the seed to be dried quickly, protecting the volatile oil, and the crop passes a cleaning sequence that removes stalk, chaff, soil, stones and immature seed. Where aroma strength governs your product, volatile oil content can be made a contractual parameter measured on the shipped lot, and crop year can be stated on the certificate of analysis. Specifications are available upon request and can be tailored to buyer requirements. FOB Alexandria with the full export documentation set.
Figures are the limits of our standard export grade. Each lot ships with its own certificate of analysis, and tighter or customer-specific limits can be agreed. Microbiological, heavy-metal and pesticide-residue parameters are agreed per contract against the destination market's requirements and reported on the certificate of analysis.
HS codes are the international 6-digit HS 2022 subheadings. National tariff lines extend them and classification can vary by destination and product form, so confirm the applicable code with your customs broker.
