Egyptian Lemongrass

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) from Ismailia is supplied cut and sifted and as powder. The citral content of the volatile oil gives the material its characteristic lemon aroma, and it is the property buyers are specifying whether the end use is an infusion, a flavour application or an extraction feedstock.

Cut and sifted material is screened to an agreed size. Because lemongrass is a fibrous leaf, cut size has a direct effect on extraction behaviour and on how the material handles in a blending line, so it is worth stating as a screen specification rather than as a description.

Applications include herbal infusions and tea blends, culinary use in South and South-East Asian preparations, botanical extraction for flavour and fragrance, and personal-care formulation. Ismailia's growing conditions and the dry harvest window allow rapid drying, which is what preserves the volatile oil.

Material is cleaned to remove field debris and off-size fractions, and each shipment carries a lot-specific certificate of analysis. Where aroma strength is critical, volatile oil content can be made a contractual parameter measured on the shipped lot.
